MAY SHOW - LIGHT & MOTION

Our 2 winners, hanging right next to each other. No First Time Entry Award this month.

Checking out the art.

Sangres Art Guild Board President Eileen Piasecki-Couch and Artist and Illustrious Volunteer Alicia Waugh enjoying the sun at the very well-attended reception.

Welcoming the returning vibrant light, we honor the sun and the emerging growth all around us with the themed show Light in Motion, our first show of the season. Each artist interprets this theme through their own vision, perspective, talents and propensities.

If you can't make it to the reception, the show runs Thurs-Sun all month from 11-4. While you are at the gallery, be sure to venture upstairs to take part in the artworks from various members who show up there all year. There are original framed art works as well as prints and unframed originals. The artists sell and switch out their pieces quite often, don't miss it!

Our Winners for the May Show were Lauren Dwyer and her paintings of the beautiful aspens, chosen for the Community Award by Westcliffe Mayor, Paul Wenke, pictured here with his wife Hope.

And the Mystery Award was selected by Hannah, from the Westcliffe Post Office, coincidentally a service person in our small community and went to Terra Raye for her magnificent photo! Both are pictured here.

RECEPTION HIGHLIGHTS

MUSICIANS

We are so honored to have the amazing quartet, Highland Strings to accompany our reception, May 3 from 1-4pm. It isn't every day you get to hear them, and at no cost to you,

The Highland Strings Quartet is comprised of Barb Saint-Amour on violin, Kim Millett on cello, Richard Beattie on guitar and Jill Beattie on mountain dulcimer, all residents of Westcliffe. Together they bring a lively and harmonious mix of original and traditional music with the flavor of the American and Scottish Highlands.

And our very own Valley Ace Hardware is kindly sponsoring this musical experience.

With a fully stocked lumberyard, premium paints, and all the DIY essentials, we provide the best brands, quality, service, and convenience you need. Whether you're crafting, building, or painting, we're here to bring your vision to life!

The Highland Strings were quite a hit. They played upbeat music that got your feet tapping, some old Irish tunes you may have recognized and some ballads that were beautiful and haunting. Our visitors on Saturday really enjoyed the live music and it was such a treat!

FEATURED ARTISTS

Eric Matranga from  Canon City is our featured artist for the reception, May 3rd. "From an early age, Art was what I used when I was troubled and needed to think things through and find comfort and equilibrium. Art has always been my method to heal and seek comfort and remains so."
