For The Love of Animals – Opening Reception

An evening reception, where you can meet  our show judge - internationally recognized pencil artist Andy Mast, other local artists, our local animal rescuers, and fellow animal lovers.  

For the Love of Animals is a collaboration with and benefit for Wet Mountain Animal Welfare (WMAW).  50% of gallery commissions on the sale of artworks in the show will go to WMAW. Some artists have  generously chosen to donate a some or all of their portions of sales to WMAW as well. 

Doors open at 11am. Wine and Hors d’oeuvres from 4pm – 6pm.

Enjoy live music by Skippy Diggler and a demonstration given by local wildlife photographer Elaine S. Coleman . Visitors vote for People’s Choice awards. The reception is free to attend. 

Elaine S. Coleman is a retired veterinarian/teacher who grew up in West Virginia with a passion for animals and nature. She enjoys all aspects of nature photography with a special love for birds, particularly those in flight. The Wet Mountain Valley provides a rich environment for native and migratory species of all sorts, plus other wildlife, wildflowers, and spectacular mountain views.

She met her husband, Dale Coleman (native of Westcliffe, CO) at West Virginia University, and together they spent 35 years in Alabama in the academic setting, furthering their studies and/or teaching students in Animal Sciences and Veterinary Medicine. They retired back to the Valley in 2020 and are mastering the art of retirement, loving every minute of it.
